Another Razorback is leaving for the NFL before his senior year. http://http://www.4029tv.com/news/22200266/detail.html A couple of years ago Darren McFadden was picked in the first round (#4) of the NFL draft and headed to the Raiders. A few years before that Ronnie Brewer was drafted for the NBA before his senior year just to give a few examples. In my opinion a person goes to college to be able to get a higher paying job than those who didn’t go and if they are offered a chance to go pro before they get their degree they are fulfilling their ambitions to be able to make the big bucks a year or two early. There are so many factors that can come into play if they stayed in school, they could be injured and never fully recover from it,family emergencies could pull them out of school or they might just have a really sucky last year that would take them out of the running for going pro. After all they made a commitment to their college team, what message does this pass on to the younger generation?
What is your opinion on this? Should college atheletes be eligible to turn pro BEFORE they graduate or should they risk never being able to suit up and play against the big boys by staying in school? If they decide to turn pro early should they be required to finish their degree either through correspondence or through such fine institutions as the University of Pheonix?
